Feng Shui is used to meet client objectives and solve life problems. A harmonious living environment, free of clutter, brings new opportunities, vitality, prosperity and happiness. Feng Shui is used in evaluating residential and commerical buildings, staging homes for sale, designing architecture, landscaping and even fashion.

Kitchens

Kitchens symbolize the cycle of life. This is where we nourish our bodies for vitality to lead productive, healthy lives. We discuss family issues, world events, politics and make important decisions. Nourished, we work to earn a living and contribute to our communities. We return to the kitchen to replenish our energy and commune with family and friends. Kitchens are the hub of the home and critical for our health, wealth and careers. Honor your kitchen!

A Major Renovation

The 1980’s laminate kitchen below was cluttered and in need of a remodel. It had inadequate lighting, cabinets were falling apart, the refrigerator shelves were held together with tape. Remodeling a kitchen can bring abundance.

BEFORE and AFTER

pic8 pic9

The new kitchen was designed to balance the five elements used in Feng Shui; water, wood, fire, earth and metal. Stove doors that open to a direction that benefits the primary breadwinner’s energy need, brings success to the household.  Dishwashers and sinks are best 2 feet apart as fire and water are conflicting energies.

Green was chosen to enhance wood energy, the element associated with food and nourishment, growth, wealth, health, new beginnings and initiation of projects. The dining table was situated to support the success of each family member.

Kitchens can be problematic and need to be carefully evaluated. Kitchens located in the Northwest, seriously impact the patriarch's luck and the career, finances, mentors and heaven luck of all residents. Treatments need to be implemented if your kitchen is located in the Northwest.

Creating Calm Spaces

Master Suite

pic10  pic11

This master suite was purposefully designed to be minimalist and devoid of clutter. Clothes are kept in a full wall of closets behind the lounge chair. The colors are subdued to create the ultimate yin atmosphere appropriate for bedrooms. Creating calm retreats like this, aids in releasing the stress of life and supports building relationships.

Try to place your bed in the "Command Position," the spot furthest from the door, with full view of the door. Beds with solid walls and headboards behind them give support to the occupants. If you must have a TV in the room, cover it at night.

The bathroom is situated so the door does not open into the bedroom, avoiding a common problem with master suites that affect health. To aid health, do not locate toilets and drains on the wall opposite the head of the bed.

Living Room

The blend of espresso, taupe, sage with a touch of plum, was selected to create a tranquil environment for a couple over fifty. Golden accents invite a shimmer into this living room. The metallic element of the gold color and a chiming clock dispels the malevolent earth energies of the 5 yellow and 2 Illness stars under the flying star formula. Softened hues and rounded furniture eliminates harmful sha (negative) chi. This living room is understated, yet has an elegant style. A water fountain is necessary to balance out the chi of this room.

Harmonizing with Color

pic1  pic2

Stadium Red is used in this Southern dining room to enhance career and fame associated with the fire energy of the South. Red increases appetite and conversation. The bedroom is in the Southwest, matriarch’s corner, the home of mother earth energy. The earthen tones of a Yellow Linen wash and Waterchestnut supports love, nurturing and long-term relationships associated with the Southwest. A bronze headboard meets the husband’s metal energy need and the silver sage bedspread supports the wife’s need of wood.

Hues in the red family are good for a single person who wants to invite romance. The scarlet, raspberry duvet cover (left) is made of dupioni silk. The color and fabric texture vibrates the senses. This color reduces an over-abundance of wood energy in this room. Typically a bedroom should be softer tones and mainly yin, not yang. In this case it is designed for a single woman who is looking for romance.

In the sunroom (right), the palette of color; eggplant, mango, and tangerine, creates an atmosphere that stimulates socializing. Metal accessories were added (mirror, side tables, pendant lights and a wind chime outside the door) to deplete negative earth energy in this room.

Color Chi Changes

BEFORE and AFTER: The white in the bedroom (below left) increased negative metal energy that brings the potential of injury by metal. It was also unimpressive and boring. Color alters the CHI in a room. Color alone can dramatically change a room’s energy and be used to bring a sense of calm. A Mediterranean Blue wash adds texture and relaxes this room and balances negative energy in this room. Generally, you do not want to pain a whole room in blue, bringing in too much water element. One wall is not a problem.

Three different colors were used to balance the complexity of elements in this guest bedroom. Large furniture can be placed to anchor relationships.

Office Renovation

pic15 pic16

This was a dark, dank and depressing room. It had no lighting and the walls were covered with 1960’s wood paneling. It was rarely used. Upgrading rooms, alters and elevates chi. This room was chosen as the family study because the metal energy here builds successful careers, generates income, brings media attention, strengthens authority and enhances scholarly pursuits. Both parents and children benefit from working in this room. Tibetan Jasmine & Copper paint was chosen to activate the metal energy and deplete harmful earth chi here. Desks are placed in directions that generate success for family members.

All windows in the study were replaced as they were cracked and did not open. (Below)

Common Space

The Boston Cream walls and cranberry accents in this living room, activates the fire and earthen energy of the South/Southwest. South is associated with fame and recognition. The Southwest is associated with the matriarch, nurturing, love, relationships and marriage. This décor energizes family harmony and social interaction.

Align furniture so people are the center and focus of attention and not the television or fireplace. This increases human engagement and improves family relationships. Place sofas so people can see the door from where they sit. Fireplaces are ideal in the South and Southwest; corners that benefit from fire element.

Using color and decor that aligns with the energy of rooms, increases the luck that is manifested by the activity of that room. This concept can be used to stage homes for quick sales and a good return of your investments.

Bathrooms have pluses and minues. On the plus side, they can be made into retreats for spiritual cleansing. On the negative side, they are drains to chi and if located in certain parts of a home, can bring negative influences. The guest bedroom was designed to invoke a welcoming calm.

Garden Feng Shui

pic26    pic27

Landscaping to Feng Shui adds beauty as well as brings luck to your home. The exterior of a home is the macro Feng Shui. Topography and terrain have a great affect on the micro or interior Feng Shui. The Buddha statue brings fortunate blessings to the home and a meditative aura to the garden. The Three Graces fountain was added as a water feature in the Southeast of this home to encourage the growth of money and the initiating of successful projects associated with the wood energy of the Southeast. Activating the luck in the landscape around a dwelling, increases the sale of listings in the real estate market.
